Exercise therapy or rehabilitation is performed using a variety of different techniques:
- Neuromuscular re-education, a hands-on manual technique, which aids the muscles in relaxation leading to reduction of pain
- Muscle resistance exercises and stretching exercises help to retrain muscle groups, aid in improving muscle function, and strengthen joints and bones
- Oxygen therapy and daily exercise may be prescribed to increase oxygenation of cells for certain chronic diseases
Exercises may also be prescribed as daily home treatment.
