Meditation/Qigong
What is Qigong?
Qigong is the practice of cultivating our inherent potential and well-being based upon the natural laws of human consciousness and internal energy flow in the physical body. These laws were observed over the centuries and many systems of Qigong flourished. Gradually, the masters refined and modified their methods until Qigong evolved into a practice that effectively restores harmony and vitality to our bodies. The word "Qigong," in Chinese, is composed of two characters: the first character, "Qi," represents the life force, or vital energy; the second character, "Gong," means the results or achievement of practice.
Although relatively new to the United States, Qigong has a long history in China where the practice has been used to improve health, physical strength and increase longevity. The theoretical basis of Qigong relates to the energy patterns in and around the human body, or Qi, which is the foundation of all the martial arts, energetic healing, Chinese medicine, Chinese philosophy, and Chinese culture.
